A Night of Music at WMS

WESTGLADES – On Oct. 25, Westglades Middle School’s band filled the school auditorium to perform their first concert of the school year. Each level of band — Beginning Band, Concert Band, and Symphonic Band — had their own time to perform.

The Beginning Band started off the concert by showing everyone what they learned after only being in band for two months. Each section played rhythms on their mouth pieces, with the percussion beating the patterns out.

Concert Band was up next and played three pieces. The first piece they played was “Infinity (Concert March)” by James Cunow. Next, they played “A Song for Friends” by Larry Daehn. Finally, Concert Band wrapped up their performance with the spooky themed song “Creepy Crawlies” by Michael Story.

The final band to perform was Symphonic Band. They played three memorable pieces of music and perhaps gave the most talked about performance of the night. The three Symphonic Band pieces — “Adrift” by Tom Tucker, “Genius March” by Harold Bennett, and the well-known “Highlights from Harry Potter” by John Williams — were a spectacular way to end the night.

Overall this concert was one worthy of seeing, or rather hearing!
